Qld: Beattie welcomes Rudd health takeover=2

Mr Beattie said he had repeatedly argued for a health plan to eradicate duplication
in the sector, which costs Australians "billions".

"At last we have a plan to get rid of duplication in this country, and I know ... the
state's will reach that by agreement," Mr Beattie said.

"There is a carrot and stick in it, there is some tough measures for the states, where
they will have shape up here or ship out.

"I think that's a good thing because what we need is reform of the health system."
