Fed: Canberrans on high alert with new fire threat today
CANBERRA, Jan 21 AAP - Canberra is on high alert again today as a new bushfire threatapproaches from the north-west.
Residents in Belconnen and surrounding suburbs have been told to prepare for the possibilityof fires fuelled by strong winds and high temperatures.
Emergency Services are boosting the numbers of firefighters in the area after theywere given a reprieve yesterday as milder weather kept fires under control.
The threat centres on fires burning in NSW which could be pushed across the borderinto the ACT by the changing weather conditions.
