WINTER'S TAKEN ITS TOLL ON PLANTS.(Living Today)

As this very strange winter comes to a close, I am wondering how the extremes in temperature and the lack of snow cover will affect the survival of certain plants in my garden.

Certainly I have little hope that the snapdragons that I left standing in the big annual bed have survived the winter. If we had our normal snowfall, these beds would have been covered by several feet of snow, more than ample insulation for the tough snapdragons. Without the snow, the eternal west wind blew across the crowns of the plants all winter and the tops are dry and sere.
