Vic: More talks today as lockout continues at Tenix shipyard

Talks between naval shipbuilder, Tenix Defence Systems, and union organisers are to
continue today as 600 workers remain locked out of the company's Melbourne shipyards.

The lockout came after union work bans were imposed at the site on Monday when negotiations
over pay rates and redundancy provisions stalled.

Tenix spokesman LIAM BATHGATE says the bans prevent the construction of the royal Australian
Navy's fifth Anzac frigate and make work at the yards effectively impossible.

The Australian Manufacturing Workers Union assistant state secretary DARREN NELSON
met with Tenix bosses yesterday but says there have been no results.
