Jun. 1--Fewer than half of the "unruly" parties busted by Tucson police this year were hosted by UA students, according to data from a Dean of Students pilot program developed to improve the behavior of students living off campus.
Since January, the University of Arizona has examined reports from police on violations of the city's red-tag ordinance, delivering warning letters to students who were cited and in some cases investigating for code-of-conduct violations.
While just one student has received university discipline so far -- several investigations are still open -- administrators say that understanding the portion of red-tag citations issued to students is just as important.
"My sense was that most people feel like all red tags are given to U of A students and I was interested in learning how many of the people who receive red tags actually are students," said Melissa Vito, vice provost for student affairs and dean of students.
